About Us
Welcome to Nutgrove House, our family home set in the Queen of The Cotswolds. We have had the priviledge of living in this beautiful Georgian townhouse since the end of 2019 and we now invite you to share this wonderful space. We have three fantastic rooms available for you to hire for your special event, as well as offering a variety of workshops.

Our Rooms
The Library
The Library is a beautiful room on the ground floor, which is traditional in style and versatile with regards to function. In the photo it has been laid out as a treatment room, but would be flexible for many types of events. Being positioned on the ground floor, it lends itself to be used as a welcome room, where refreshments can be served on arrival. It also boasts a gorgeous piano and an open fire.

The Dining room is a bright room with high ceilings and would perfectly suit business meetings, networking events, workshops and talks. It can seat up to 10 guests. The Dining room is situated on the first floor.
Valley View
The Valley View room sits at the very top of the house with beautiful views over the Painswick Valley. This room is intentionally left unfurnished to allow us to adapt it to your requirements. Author readings, meditation and workshops are just a few examples of events which could be accommodated.

Blossom Robin Massage and Reflexology

Blossom offers full massage and reflexology for all. Drawing on her training in Swedish, deep tissue and pregnancy massage , she will tailor each treatment to the needs of the individual. Massage can be helpful to work through particular aches and pains as well as to aid relaxation. Reflexology can help to move stuck energy in the body and help bring about a more balanced system, people often find it very grounding and a good way to reconnect with themselves.

Discover the magical alchemy of enamelling (the process of fusing finely powdered glass onto metal in a kiln).
During the morning session, you will learn and experiment with a range of enamelling techniques.
Following a break for lunch, you will spend the afternoon designing and creating your own framed enamel artwork or enamelled jewllery to take home.

Join Kate for a bullet journal bookbinding workshop. In this class we will start by making hardcovers for our books and then learn traditional coptic stitch method for binding together multiple sections. Whilst you are learning, Kate will walk you through her own mindful journaling practice, leaving you with the skills and ideas for your own bullet journaling and a book to start immediately.
All tools and materials are included and please note you will be using sharp tools.

Spring Flowers using Watercolours

Working directly from Seasonal Spring Flowers, Karen Green, Botanical Artist, will guide you through observational drawing and watercolour techniques to create a finished illustration that reflects a botanical understanding of your subject and captures the beauty of the plant.
​
Through a little bit of flower botany exploration, Karen will guide and support you to create a detailed drawing. With one to one support and demonstrations, you will experiment with watercolour techniques and accurate colour mixing to paint your chosen flower.
During the session you will familiarize yourself with the materials and tools needed for botanical art and the techniques used, slowly building up layers of paint to create luminosity and depth.

Sophie will begin by explaining how she started her Mandala journey and the history and science behind Mandala Art. It has a complex, geographical and cultural history and has fascinating impacts on the brain.

Sophie will take you through each step, you will begin by drawing a Mandala grid, you will then form basic shapes, then add all the detail.
​
There will be lots of discussion around the art of Mandala whilst you make your own designs.

During this class, you will start your own garden journel, by merging scrapbooking, sketch-booking and mindful-journalling with botanical illustration. After step by step demonstrations of how to begin, you can take inspiration for planning and illustrating your own garden- whether thats your allotment, balcony or back garden.
We will cover a wide range of skills including, creative journalling, observational drawing and painting botanicals, as well as visual elememts that don't involve drawing. A beginner will have the chance to test materials and learn watercolours under guidance, while advanced students will have the opportunity to branch into their own creative practice, inspired by the course content.

Using Macrame and weaving you will produce a wall hanging and to compliment this you will make a Macrame plant hanger.
Firstly you will learn the basic knots in Macrame and make the framework for your wall hanging.
Then you will weave texture into this with different fibres and wools to produce a fringe and some detail in your wall hanging.
Then you are ready for your plant hanger !! Using the knots you have learnt !

On this one day workshop all aspects of developing a linocut will be explored. Working from your own projects and designs, participants will be guided through each step of the process from transferring designs, cutting methods, registration techniques, inking and printing.
Our aim will be to produce a black and white print from a single block of easy cut vinyl. This will enable participants to explore how to create the illusion of mass and form through line and tone, whilst discovering the magic of linocut printmaking.
Please bring:
An apron/old shirt

Inspiration of printed image-this could be a photo, sketch or art work etc

A slice of a cake and a hot drink
In this relaxed and informal one day workshop, Lizzie will show you how to design and carve your own unique printing block from lino. You will then use your lino printing block to experiment with colour and pattern and finally print a length of fabric which you can take home and use for a project of your choice.
You do not need any experience as Lizzie will guide you through the process. We will work on a design no bigger than 10x10cm, so if you have any ideas, do bring them along. Lizzie will provide lots of inspiration with her sketch books and hand printed fabric samples. You will also be able to use hand carved lino blocks from her own collection, perhaps to combine with your own. Please bring an apron or old clothes as the inks you use will stain.
